What you wrote is half the truth. Happiness is also a teacher. Pain and happiness are two different sides of the same coin. Unless you conquer *BOTH* you won't reach a state beyond these to feel nothing about either. That state is the ideal one called equanimity (sp?). Those who reached that state are desireless. They are not effected by either happiness or pain. If pain is an iron chain that holds you to something, happiness is a golden chain (albeit a chain) that holds you to something else. One gotta break free of these chains (iron and/or gold) ultimately. That's my two cents.

BTW you owe me $2.98 (hypothetical $3 minus my 2 cents above). Please pay electronically. I don't accept checks anymore (read Lehman Brothers) ;-)

People from Aristotle to Jesus to any modern realized soul speak the same one thing. The world is made up of one unchangeable spirit (call it soul, spirit or whatever). It exists in you, me, the homeless guy and in the ant and the cockroach. Behind the viels of different bodies, there lies the same one spirit. The same thing has been said 'give and you will recieve.' If you give someone something, you are actually giving it to yourself and if you hurt someone you are actually hurting yourself.

The creation has been so grandly made that we all should share - whatever we have. We are never made to accumulate and prosper. Good that Mr. Gates is giving back now. He found this 'soul call' somehow and gave up the MSFT job. No wonder One Mr. Buffet joined too. They recognized it and put their money (their money? Think again, it is OURS and EVERYBODY's) to good use.

Looking forward for your next RTL...;)

If you have not already read, may I suggest you read "What men live by?" by Leo Tolstoy? Google it and it is available in PDF form.

* Nothing lasts forever (remember the story of king with a finger ring.. even this will pass away?)

* Nobody comes into contact with another person without predestined (by God or otherwise) will. So show good hospitality to others.

* God alone IS. Everything else will disappear (including VS 2008 and the VS 3xxx or VS 5xxx are going to be GiGo - garbage in and garbage out. Remember your first PC that you used with your jaws dropped in awe? Where is it now?)

* You may not get what you "WANT" in life but God will always provide what you "NEED" in life.

* Never ever comment bad about food placed in a plate for you to eat; even if you do not like the food/eat that offered food. Be thankful you have something to eat (and remember that some of those kids in Africa do not even eat twice a day)

* Build a cocoon in your own mind to where you can retreat "PEACEFULLY" even if the whole world crumbles. Money or no money, family or no family, world or no world you will always be happy in that cocoon.
